The Bible says that God is Sovereign. He is the author of all.

Isa. 45:7   I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Eph. 1:11   In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

God works all things, not most things, not many things, not almost everything, but ALL THINGS after the counsel of His own will.  Good for the day of good and evil for that day. The quote from the previous post that says God only creates good is unscriptural and illogical. Further, the scripture says:

Isa. 54:16   Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

The waster was created to destroy by God.  The most important thing to remember, however, is that in all of this, God intends a WONDERFUL end, just as He did with Job.  I will quote further:

Col. 1:16   For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Col. 1:17   And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Col. 1:18   And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Col. 1:19   For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Col. 1:20   And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Also, Revelation states that there will be a time when there will be no more pain, no more suffering, etc.  Some have tried to twist the scripture into limiting the scope of it, but it is to no avail, since the scripture and logic teach that God is in TOTAL CONTROL.  To believe the silliness of man's free will is, well, silly.  Did you chose where you were born, when, to whom, with what physical makeup, etc. etc. Of course not. These things, all out of your control, shape who you are. The determine your attitude and actions, along with the physical laws that God has put in the universe. Each person has a very very limited amount of choice they can make. Maybe 5% free will at best. Any other view deny's rationality and is an attempt to free God of the responsibility of creator that He willingly took upon Himself to chose the fate of every one of His creatures, as the Bible says over and over.
